Halloween (1978) review

Image
I met this.. six-year-old child with this blank, pale, emotionless face, and... the blackest eyes - the Devil's eyes. It is purely and simple…. Evil.  This movie is my favorite horror movie plain and simple. The shape is terrifying and very simple in its concept. This movie was low budget at around 300,000 and it made about 7 million at the box office. This movie is simple with the shapes design and the tension and the fact that there is not a lot of gore John Carpenter didn’t need to put gore and over the top kills in the movie to scary you. This movie set the example for all other slashers that came after it. This movie is a masterpiece and is the greatest horror movie ever in my opinion. One of the reasons why this movie is so scary is because you don’t know why he’s killing babysitters the fear of the unknown is really terrifying. This movie is mysterious and eerie and all around amazing. I’m going to give this movie a rare for me a 10/10.

Jeepers Creepers review

Image
Every 23rd Spring, for 23 days, it gets to... eat. This movie starts out like a run of the mill teen horror movie where some teenagers are being stalked by a crazed serial killer but as the movie goes further along it turns into something way crazier. The creeper has a really scary design and the makeup and effects are amazing. It has some really great suspenseful scenes. It also has some really tense moments that will leave you on the edge of your seat all throughout the runtime. Justin long is really great in this movie he is a very underrated actor. This movie is very underrated as well it doesn’t get talked about enough. If you never seen this movie I suggest you watch it I highly recommend it. There are some really intense and dark scenes that really make this film something really different than you’ve ever seen before. I give Jeepers Creepers a 8.5/10.

Christine review

Image
My thoughts on Christine this movie has a great concept that is executed really well. The car is really beautiful and very intimidating.  This movie was directed by The legend John Carpenter who really did a awesome job on this movie. The movie however doesn’t push any boundaries and it’s not super gory it’s just a simple slasher movie with a car as the killer. I really enjoy the simplicity of the horror. I really love watching this movie because I love cars and I love horror movies so this movie is pretty great for me. The cast is pretty good and they are really believable in most of they’re scenes. I’m going to give Christine a 8/10.

Jaws review

Image
My thoughts on Jaws are that Thai movie had ruined large bodies of water for me. I love this movie though it’s combines some moments of great humor , tense scenes and some really great scares. This movie is a genuine classic horror movie it has some great acting and some awesome kills. I love the fact that you barely see the shark throughout the movie until the end it really adds to the terrifying factor. The shark is so horrifying and has a very awesome animatronic. It’s a very captivating movie with some brilliant dialogue and really good tension and suspense. This movie is almost 50 years old and it is still very scary. I love this movie and I can watch it anytime. So I’m going to give Jaws a 9/10.

Willys Wonderland review

Image
This movie try’s to be five nights at Freddy’s but I don’t think it succeed although it is still a decent movie. Nicholas cage is really good even though he doesn’t speak the entirety of the runtime . The animatronics were really well made and are intimidating.  I didn’t like the teenage actors they were just mindless Canon fodder and they didn’t have any depth. It has over the top violence which Is pretty enjoyable.  The dialogue is pretty dumb at some points. This movie is enjoyable but can be stupid in some peoples eyes. So I'm going to give Willys wonderland a 5.5/19.

Halloween 3 Season of the Witch review

Image
John carpenters original idea for the Halloween franchise was to have an anthology series with different stories each year set around Halloween. Season of the witch is they’re first attempt at this anthology series. I really love this movie it’s a shame it doesn’t get the credit it deserves. The acting is great the suspense is fantastic and the effects still holds up today. I personally think that if this wasn’t named Halloween 3 it would’ve been a huge success. The concept is pretty genius with a evil company wanting kill as much people as possible with a doctor trying to stop them.I really enjoy this movie and I’m going to give Halloween 3 season of the with a 8.5/10.

Dawn of the Dead review

Image
The follow up to night of the living dead where the dead continue to rise and live again as flesh eating zombies we find a new set of characters trapped inside a mall filled with the living dead. I really enjoy this movie as a continuation of the zombie film that George A. Romero brought us years earlier. The zombie effects are upgraded and are a vast improvement from the first movie. The gore is done in a really great way where it’s not over the top but just the right amount. The ending is left very open ending and it leaves you guessing what happens next.  It’s a social commentary mixed with a bone chilling horror film that has some really interesting characters and some great zombie effects and some awesome gore. I’m going ton give Dawn of the Dead a 8/10.

Psycho review

Image
These are my thoughts on Alfred Hitchcock s greatest movie psycho. This movie is amazing and in my opinion with the help of Halloween it helped bring us the slasher genre we know today. Anthony Perkins was fantastic as Norman Bates. The film had an amazing twist that on first viewing you won’t see coming. The score is spectacular and very chilling the atmosphere of this movie is intense and unnerving. Alfred Hitchcock is a fantastic director he is a true visionary. This movie is amazing I could watch it anytime. It’s very smart and sophisticated in its storytelling. Overall I could t find any flaws with this film. So I’m going to give Alfred Hitchcocks Psycho a 9.5/10.

Cabin in the Woods review

Image
Starting off this review this movie is the greatest horror movies of the 2010s by far. It has everything funny comedic moments that are actually funny not forced, it has some great scares and. Some really awesome creature and monster designs. I love all the acting in this movie especially Chris Hemsworth. This was filmed before Thor came out but I was released when he was really popular. The concept of this movie is genius and really meta in a way. The ending is off the walls crazy and I loved every second of it. I’m going to give Cabin in the Woods a 9/10.

Night of the Living Dead review

Image
To start my review of the night of the living dead off I want to say that this movie is an all time classic horror movie. It’s full of suspense and horror and it help popularize the zombie genre of horror movies. This movie was directed by the genius George A. Romero. He was one of the all time greatest horror movie director and he help revolutionize the horror genre. It’s a very intense and suspenseful horror movie that feels very real at times and has a ending that will make you upset. I’m going to give Night of the Living Dead a 9/10.

The Strangers review

Image
This movie starts off with a couple who are having relationship issues. They end up going to a secluded house. They get a knock on they’re door. This movie really scares me because it seems so really. It almost reminds me of the Manson murders. This movie is a Halloween must watch for me. The masks they wear are really scary. I love the shots where you can barely see the killers in the background. The ending of this movie will have you emotional and will leave you scared and paranoid for days after. I’m going to give The Strangers a 9/10.

You’re Next review

Image
To start off this review of You’re Next that I really loved the suspense and all the kills. I feel like this is a horror comedy with some of the intentional and unintentional jokes. The animal masks are pretty intimating. The main character is really awesome and she knows how fight back against the attackers and she sets up pretty genius traps somewhat like a demented home alone. The twist In the 3rd act was pretty great and I didn’t see it comping. I think this is a very intelligent horror thriller which has some funny moments and awesome kills.  So I’m going to give You're Next a 8.5/10

The Shinning review

Image
This movie is very  complex and very deep movie and it has so many hidden details and it really makes you think. It’s disturbing and it has many terrifying scenes that will stick with you a few days after watching this movie. Jack Nicholson really shines and he is very intimidating even when he is not his crazy self.  Stanley Kubrick is a very fantastic director and I think this is his best film. It’s not just a simple horror movie it’s a horror movie that makes you really think if things are real or they are just going crazy and lost their minds. I love the setting of the Overlook Hotel which is a character in itself. It’s a huge and ever changing maze of a building. There are stairs that lead to nowhere and hallways that change positions. I really love this movie it’s one of the greatest films ever made. I give The Shinning a 9/10.

Carrie review

Image
My review on Carrie from 1976 I really enjoy this film.  This is an example of the film being better than source material. The book, written by Stephen King, is good, the film is a classic. Carrie does have some genuine scary scenes  and unsettling moments, such as the crucifixion which is horrifying  and unforgettable and the ending which still haunts me. But it also has a lot of heart, as there are some prolific scenes, especially as Sissy Spacek's performance is so spectacular. Piper Laurie is also brilliant, and it was quite nice to see John Travolta early is his career. This is an all time. Classic horror movie that has a message about bullying and radicalism that really sets this movie from a lot of horror movies. I give Carrie a 8.5/10.

The Fog review

Image
My thoughts on John Carpenters The Fog. John Carpenter's horror follow-up to HALLOWEEN is a subtle and effective chiller in which the titular fog menaces the residents of a small American town. Carpenter brings  old-fashioned thrills and kills, with his own distinctive visual look, in a tale of phantom murderous pirates. The effects are really good for it’s time. The music and the scenes where there’s no music really make this movie a chilling tale. THE FOG is a slow-moving, subtle and creepy ghost story, well played and very well directed. Jamie Lee Curtis is really awesome in this as she always is. This is a very effective low budget horror movie. I give John Carpenters The Fog a 6.5/10.

Freddy vs. Jason review

Image
My thoughts on this campy movie is that it was a brilliant idea having two horror icons fight in one big epic movie but it was executed kind of poorly. Don’t get me wrong I love this movie but it’s one of those movies that’s so bad it’s good. I do have a lot of fun watching this movie and it has some wildly crazy kills. Robert Englund is great as Freddy as always. I didn’t like how Jason was portrayed as some brute who doesn’t think because I always thought he was cunning and had some intelligence. There is so many cheesy lines and dumb moments that really make me enjoy watching this but it has a lot of flaws. I do recommend watching this if you never seen it before just to enjoy its stupidity and dumb charm. I think I’m going to give Freddy vs. Jason a 6.5/10.

Halloween Kills review

Image
After first viewing this movie was awesome but short and wildly different from any other Halloween movie. The brutality of Michael myers is over the top and gruesomely awesome. The  effects and deaths were really great. The acting while sometime a little cheesy was pretty great. Michael is finally a killing Beast were in other movies he kills maybe 10 people this movie ups the kill count significantly. The movie felt really short I do wish it was longer. The opening flashback was a fantastic scene that I was amazed at how well it was shot. The ending did feel a little rushed even though it could’ve been longer and fixed that . This was way better than Halloween (2018) but still doesn’t hold up to the original Halloween. Michael does feel unstoppable in this movie and he feels even more supernatural. I’ve seen it twice and I really enjoyed it both times other than a few nitpicks here and there. I really loved the silver shamrock Easter eggs with the big Halloween 3 masks. Michael’s

Halloween (2018) review

Image
Starting off I really loved this movie when it came out but over time I started to find little flaws in it but I still highly enjoy it more than the other sequels in the franchise. I really loved how Michael was portrayed he is my favorite horror movie villain. The actor playing him is amazing and moves and acts just like the original Michael myers.  I didn’t like the doctor character it just was kind of dumb in my opinion.I did like how Laurie evolved from the victim to the hunter. The scenes where Michael was hiding in the shadows or creeping up on someone was very well done and the atmosphere really puts you in the Halloween vibe. It does leave some plot threads hanging which I can say are resolved on the sequel so that is really awesome and the continuity is very detailed and almost perfect. So I’m going to give Halloween (2018) a 7.5/10.

Friday The 13th review

Image
This movie is by far one of the greatest slasher horror movies ever.It has great casting and amazing and well written characters. The twist at in the third act is classic and if it’s your first viewing you will never expect who the killer will be. This was the launching point of a long reigning horror movie franchises ever made. This is a Halloween much watch for me. This movie set up Jason to be a mega star and it made a ton of money. Betsy Palmer who plays Mrs.Voorhees is amazing in this movie she is a amazing on screen presence. Camp Crystal Lake is a perfect setting for the massacre and it’s just beautifully shot and well lit. I really love this movie and this movie franchise it is one of my all time favorites. I give Friday The 13th a 8/10.

Fright Night review

Image
This is my review of Fright Night and I got to say I really enjoy watching this movie. It feels like a throwback to old 50s horror movies. The acting is top notch and the makeup effects are stellar. The story is simple and easy to follow which can be pretty bad sometimes but here it actually works. The villain of the movie is awesome and intimidating.  This really set the stage for the lost boys to be what it was. I really liked the humor and the scares were well placed and not forced. I do prefer the original over the remake but the remake is still pretty good. I do lean towards this one though. This is a really great vampire movie it is up there with lost boys, Dracula, and Salem's lot which is also a pretty good scary movie. I really do recommend this movie it’s pretty good it does have its cheesy moments but it’s still a great time. 7.5/10.

My thoughts on the new scream trailer

Image
My thoughts on the recent scream trailer that dropped today. I really enjoyed this trailer this actually looks pretty good.Scream is my all time favorite horror movie right behind Halloween so me actually liking this was slim to none but this trailer really blew me away it looks really inventive and smart like the first movie and the original cast all look awesome! I think I’ll give  the trailer a 9.5/10. Let me know what you thought of this trailer. It’s really great to have ghostface back!!!!!                             Watch the trailer below!

Pet Sematary review

Image
My thoughts on Stephen kings Pet Sematary are that the concept was great but the execution wasn’t that good. It is overall a decent horror movie with some good scare and good effects. It’s just a little campy and cheesy. The acting besides Fred Gwynne was not very good. It does have some memorable scenes like the truck scene and church the cat but at the end it’s just a pretty forgetful Stephen King adaptation. The ending is very predictable and you can see how everything will play out through the movie. I really like the book and this was not as good as the book but I will take this any day over the recent remake that came out a little while back. This movie is almost a cult classic in my personal opinion. So I’m going to give the Pet Sematary a 5.5/10.

The Descent review

Image
My thoughts on this movie is that it’s a claustrophobic, eerie and terrifying horror movie. The acting I’m this movie is top notch. The designs of the creatures are very well done. Just the thought of cave diving and being stuck in dark, wet and small spaces really gives you a sense of foreboding and a sense of hopelessness. You really feel for what the characters go through and it has a twist ending that you won’t see coming. This is a really great and detail oriented movie. You can spot so many things in the background and you might miss some which means your second viewing will be even better than the first. I think I’m going to give The Descent a 7.5/ 10.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre review

Image
Here are my thoughts on Tobe Hopppers the Texas Chainsaw Massacre released on October 11th 1974. This is a great look into the violence in 70s horror movies. This film is very disturbing and vile. It has one of the greatest horror movie icons in leather face. His design and mannerisms are iconic. It has a ton of great practical effects. It does a great job I’m building suspense and tension. The ending will leave you disturbed and uneasy But this movie is still a classic in horror cinema. I really like the use of the documentary style it really give a sense of realism and it just adds to the horror. It harsh and gritty tones really sets this movie different from the rest of the horror movies I’ve seen. It almost feels like this can actually be real and In fact leather face is based on real life serial killer Ed gein. The acting is phenomenal but there are some cheesy parts. The acting really gives a sense of dread and realism especially the final shot. So I’m conclusion I’m going to

The Evil Dead review

Image
My review of Sam raimis evil dead. This is an all time classic movie. Made on an extremely small budget at around $350,000 which is really small compared to how well done this movie is. It has really great gore effects and tons of blood and crazy death scenes and a scene that always makes my ankle hurt if you have seen the movie you know what I’m talking about. This movie introduces us to Bruce Campbell’s ash who is a awesome character he’s not fully fleshed out in this one but in the sequels and the tv show he’s hilarious. I really recommend watching this movie and army of darkness they’re both cult classics with two different tones from horror to horror comedy. This move really has some great creature effects and some pretty terrifying scenes. I really recommend watching this movie it’s a great horror movie that spawned so much other content. I give The Evil Dead a 9.5/10.

The Thing review

Image
Here’s my review on John carpenters The Thing. I love this movie it’s one of those movies that I can watch over and over. It really gives you a since of paranoia and fear and it really gives you trust issues. I really like Kurt Russell’s  character. He’s a awesome character and is very realistic. This is a truly scary movie because you don’t know what will happen to all these likable characters.  It is a classic movie that was ahead of its time. When it came out it was hated but over the years it became somewhat a cult classic. Critics hated but I don’t see why it’s a great horror movie that makes you think and it makes you never trust anyone again. It also has really amazing practical effects that really hold up to this day. It’s gory when it needs to be and it’s also very subtle when it needs to be. With its ambiguous ending and disturbing death scenes this movie is overall a amazing time and I can’t speak anymore highly of this movie. So I’m going to give The Thing a 9.5/10.

Trick r treat movie review

Image
This is my review of trick r treat. I really enjoyed this anthology horror movie that has about five stories all intertwined in a pretty terrifying story. One story is amazing. The other two have great things in it and the last  two are perfectly acceptable Halloween vignettes. All in all, this is solid Halloween story. The little central character Sam has a nice design although he may work better simply lurking in the background. It's more creepy that he exists in this cauldron of madness rather than being a killer monster. I really enjoyed the acting and humor but I found this movie to be a little short. I really wished it was long and had a few more small stories thrown in. I really loved all the twist and turns and nods to other horror movies and horror movie cliches. I really love this movie I enjoy watching it around this time of the year. So I’m going to give trick r treat a 8.5/10.

IT chapters 1 and 2 review

Image
Here are my thoughts on both IT chapters 1 and 2. I really enjoyed chapter one. It felt like an old 80s throwback movie like the goonies or something like stranger things it even has a actor from stranger things. I did however enjoy it especially bill skarsgãrd as pennywise the clown. He’s terrifying and. Funny at the same time. I find little Easter eggs and hidden pennywise sightings everywhere some are easy but after a recent rewatch I found so many more that I hadn’t seen previously. I really like all the kid actors they all did a great job. The sewer scene with Georgie was heartbreaking. It does build tension really well but some scenes kind of dragged for me and I got a little bored but it was an overall good watch. I’ll give chapter one a 8.5/10.         Now onto chapter two this feel felt way too long at almost 3 hours this film felt very bloated and slow. It took forever to get going. But pennywise was great but he wasn’t in the movie a lot so it just makes it that muc

Scream movie review

Image
I have been waiting to do a review on this movie! First off I love scream for the design of the killers mask to the acting and all the actors to the realism of how everything is portrayed and the brutality of the murders. I really enjoyed skeet ultich as billy Loomis and Jamie Kennedy as randy Meeks. But the stand out performance is none other than Matthew Lillard as Stu macher he is over the top in a good way and is crazy and just a all around awesome performance. I got to also say David arquette, neve Campbell and Courtney cox were fantastic. Wes craven is one of the greatest horror movie directors there will ever be and he left a lot of amazing work and he will be missed dearly. I really love the atmosphere of a lot of the scenes and how moody some shots are. This movie does a great job of building tension and raising paranoia throughout. There are many hints and red herrings thrown in and a twist that if you never seen scream you won’t see it coming. The design of the ghost

Insidious movie review

Image
This is my review on James Wans insidious. When this movie came out I admit it was terrifying and inventive. After it being out for over 10 years it’s lost some of its original impact i my opinion. It had some pretty good scares and some chilling atmosphere but it just lacks the charm it first had when it originally came out. One of the first jump scares still got me and I do really find that scene tense and genuinely scary but other than that and some other scenes I just find it pretty bland but still rather enjoying than most horror movies today. Overall the film had some scary moments and some pretty funny and light hearted moments but it’s just lacking the same it factor and charm of when it first was released. I also really like the twists and turns it had. It really threw me a curve ball at the end and made me feel very uneasy after watching it but I think the sequels ruined that feeling but I’m going to give insidious a 6.5/10.

Amityville horror review

Image
My thoughts on the original Amityville horror are that it’s a classic haunted house movie with some decent effects and some great acting. George and Kathy Lutz are looking for a place to settle down  and raise a family. The Lutz's and their children(Kathy's from a previous marriage) settle on an impossibly cheap, large and beautiful shore house. But 28 days later the macabre and terrifying hauntings start accruing and forcing them to flee and and leave all they’re possessions behind. The film shows satanic forces preying on the family driving the father mad and trying to recreate the murders that happened years prior to them moving in. I really enjoyed this movie it’s a total classic that still holds up today. It still kind of freaks me out! I’m going to give the Amityville horror a 7/10.
